Membership Information

The Schroeder YMCA Swim Team is a stable, year-round, age group team that supports swimmers from novice to the national level and competes regularly in both YMCA and USA Swimming meets. Schroeder YMCA coaches make it their priority to help children and youth develop good lifestyle health habits and they see that each athlete is stimulated with challenge only to the point of success. The programs are designed for each athlete with their age, ability and desire in mind. As these factors change, so do the programs. Young athletes learn to budget their time for school, practice, family time, homework, and relaxation. The Schroeder YMCA's Masters Swim Team enables our coaches to reach a broader adult population through fun, fitness and competition.

Financial Assistance

The YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee believes in providing membership and program service to all who desire to participate in the YMCA. The YMCA's financial assistance program, supported in part through contributions to the Strong Kids Campaign, provides funds for those in needs within our available resources.

There are three primary costs associated with joining the swim team. Membership and training group fees can be paid by monthly bank draft or in a lump sum.

Becoming a member of the YMCA
1. One time Joining Fee - $150.00 (adult/family)
  (Joining fee is waived by the coaches - ask) - $50.00 (youth/young adult)
2. Monthly Membership Fee (effective 9/1/06)
1. Individual (adult) $58.00
2. Family $95.00
3. Youth (under 24) $34.00
USA Swimming Registration and Escrow Account
1. USA (USA Swimming, Inc.) is the national governing body for swimming and membership is $48.00 each year ($41.00 for 8&under on the day their application is received). Membership is required to swim in any USA- sanctioned competition and every team member must be registered.
2. An Escrow Account is how each swimmer pays for meet entry fees. Entry fees are detailed in each meet packet (typically $10-30 per meet). No fees are charged to an SSTY family for meets that we host, provided that the family fulfills its work requirements. A swimmer makes deposits to his/her account and then entry fees are deducted. A positive balance of $50 should be maintained. Statements are printed about quarterly.

Training Fees
The monthly fee for training (table below) is based loosely on the amount of training time each athlete utilizes and at what level the athlete is swimming. There is a 15% discount on the fee for each additional swimmer in your family.
